Questions
Before you send the file.
General answers. We do not promise a duration or a fee. The detail is set after we see the activity.
What is an environmental permit?
It is the approval from the National Center for Environmental Compliance that an activity needs before it operates. SABU prepares the file and follows it with the Center. We do not issue the permit ourselves.
When is it a new permit, and when is it a renewal?
A new activity that has not been permitted is a new file. A facility that already holds a permit, and needs it extended or updated because something changed, is a renewal. If you are unsure, tell us what you do and whether a permit number already exists.
What is an environmental impact assessment?
It is a study of how a project affects its surroundings, prepared when the National Center for Environmental Compliance asks for one before it will consider the file. SABU scopes the study, writes it from the site information you provide, and submits it with the file.
What should we send you to start?
A short description of the activity, the city, whether this is new or a renewal, and the current permit number if you have one. Commercial registration and a site plan help, but you can contact us before the folder is complete.
How long does a permit take, and what does it cost?
The National Center for Environmental Compliance sets the pace of review. SABU does not promise a number of days or a fee on this website. After we see the activity, we tell you what the file still needs.
Do we need to know our activity category before we call?
No. Describe the activity in ordinary words. We will tell you what the file has to cover. You do not need a category label to start the conversation.
Can you pick up a file that is already with the regulator?
Yes, if you can share what was submitted and what the Center has asked since. We read that first, then say what is still missing.
Which measurements does SABU carry out?
Air quality, noise and emissions, when the permit or the Center asks for them. The exact set is confirmed for each site. We do not claim a laboratory accreditation on this website.
